How to Use the Blackjack Calculator

  1. Set the deck composition — leave it at a full shoe, or lower the counts for cards you've already seen played to get an EV tailored to the current count.
  2. Select your hand using the Player selector — two cards, or more if you've already hit.
  3. Select the dealer's upcard using the Dealer selector.
  4. Click Calculate to see the recommended action and the expected value of every legal option.
  5. Leave Auto-Deduct on to have calculated cards automatically removed from the deck as you work through a shoe; turn it off to check one hand at a time without affecting the count.
  6. Reset clears your hand and restores a full deck.

How This Blackjack Calculator Works

Most blackjack strategy charts are computed for one fixed rule set and an infinite deck, so they can be slightly wrong for the game you're actually playing. This calculator is different: it performs an exhaustive search over every possible way the hand can play out, using the exact deck composition you enter and the casino rules you configure.

The result is the expected value (EV) of every legal action, expressed as a percentage of your original bet. An EV of +18% means that over the long run, this decision earns 18 cents of profit for every dollar of your initial wager; −54% means you lose 54 cents. For Double Down and Split, the extra money those plays put on the table is included: a Split EV is the combined result of all resulting hands, so two hands each averaging +30% of their own bet show as +60%. This keeps every action on the same scale — the recommended action is simply the one with the highest EV, with no heuristic or approximation involved.
